Bayonetta is one of the last surviving Umbran Witches, and must save the world from the angelic forces of Paradiso and the Lumen Sages, two groups bent on reshaping the world in their image. "Bayonetta" follows the titular witch as she navigates through a world inspired equally by Dante’s “Inferno” and Scandinavian mythology. However, the series' stong language, sexual content, violence and portrayal of the main character’s sexuality make it a mature, adult-only game. The inclusion of a free copy of the original “Bayonetta” with the new "Bayonetta 2" release is a welcome inclusion for both fans and first-timers. “Bayonetta 2,” the most recent port from the Wii U, and its predecessor, "Bayonetta" fit nicely into this category.Īs an action title from legendary Japanese developer Hideki Kamiya (of “Resident Evil,” “Devil May Cry” and “Okami” fame), the "Bayonetta" games are fantastic, flashy experiences with a cutting sense of humor.
While Nintendo generally deals in family-friendly fare, they’ve occasionally tried to publish titles intended solely for their adult audience.
